Known as San Alfonso del Mar, the crystalline lagoon, which is ideal for swimming and a wide array of non-motorized watersports, and was once awarded the Guinness World Record until 2015.
For San Alfonso del Mar, the firm’s founder and President of Crystal Lagoons, which was recently valued at US $4.1 billon, created a pioneering and environmentally sustainable technology, patented worldwide in over a 190 countries. This sustainable technology allows crystalline lagoons of unlimited sizes to be built and maintained at very low costs anywhere in the world, using a minimum amount of additives and energy. The current world record for largest man-made crystalline lagoon powered by pioneering technology created by Crystal Lagoons is held by Citystars Sharm El Sheikh. Located in Egypt’s Sinai Desert, the paradise-like lagoon covers 29 acres.
However, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City, District One – part of the master development known as Meydan–, is anchored by a 100-acre paradise-like lagoon, which will set a third world record for the U.S, Miami-based innovation company, as the world’s largest crystalline, man-made lagoon, once it is officially inaugurated.
