Crystal Lagoons® could develop a new project in New Zealand

05/10/2021

Crystal Lagoons® Public Access Lagoons ™ is eyeing the geographical region of Oceania as the destination for its next global project.

The company could form part of the Te Awa Lakes Leisure and Recreation Park project, a planned adventure park in Hamilton, on New Zealand’s North Island, whose central focus would be a 2-hectare crystal lagoon, suitable for swimming and water sports and surrounded by white sandy beaches.

The complex would also include 1,500 homes and a variety of amenities such as hotels and restaurants, beach clubs, giant slides, shops, amphitheaters, recreational activities, concerts and an open-air cinema.

The development is scheduled to be open to the public in 2023 on a user-pays basis.

In addition, the lagoon in Hamilton would incorporate Crystal Lagoons’ latest innovation, called Hot Reef ™, a technology that keeps the water of certain bathing areas warm at a constant 28 degrees Centigrade without interrupting the flow of the rest of the lagoon.

This technology provides optimal bathing conditions, similar to those in tropical seas during the summer, and also in colder times of the year in a low cost and sustainable way.

During the coldest months, the Hot Reef areas are covered with domes, allowing the lagoons to be used even in winter and on rainy days. This is especially important in countries like New Zealand, which have high rainfall, as it allows people to take advantage of crystal lagoons all-year round.
